LANCKORONA
The camp takes place in
the district of lanckorona is situated on the carpathin foothills of the polish
beskidy range, 38km to the south of krakow. The region’s
uniqueness stems from its old wooden architecture, spectacular rural landscape
and rich by biodiversity which is preserved in forest that grows on the slopes
of the castle Mount overlooking lanckorona, on farms and in old gardens. The
area has ideal conditions for outdoor activities with numerous walking and
cycling possibilities. Founded around the 12th century, it was granted town
rights in 1361 by king Kazimierz the great. After the second world war the
village with its medieval layout and well preserved wooden architecture was
designated a cultural monument. Bulding occupying the center of the village are
regarded as the most beautiful example of traditional wooden architecture in
Poland. In 1999 UNESCO added lanckorona Hill with its medieval castle ruins on
to its world heritage sites list.
The highlights of lanckorona are the market place (which is 9,5%
slope), the st John’s church from 1359, the castle ruins on the lanckorona
mount (550m high) from the 13th century, old fashioned villas in lanckorona
from 1920’s
Pan tadeuz is the place where we are living during this exchange,
it's a really beautifful place, which we all need. we just have some
problems on the evening for stay quiet and don't do mutch noise. But we
was so happy to stay together, and we try to be not to much noisy
peaple....
